Philippians 2:5-8

  • In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross! Philippians 2:5-8

Jesus chose to come to this earth and humble Himself.  He is fully God and fully Man.  He came to this earth and became a servant so that we could be free.  We are all born into sin because of the choice made by Adam and Eve in the garden.  But Jesus came and humbled Himself, He lived a life without sin so that He would take our place at Calvary and take the sin of the world upon Himself.

He who knew no sin, became sin so that we would be free.  He took the punishment that we deserved and His gift of salvation was purchased at a great price.  He laid down His very life so that we would be free.  We need to meditate and set our hearts on the finished work of Christ.  In Jesus is freedom from all sin and bondage of the enemy.  We are free this day if we are in Christ and we need to walk in the revelation of that freedom.

God, you are all powerful and yet you emptied yourself to redeem me. May I be more selfless in my attitude and treatment of others, more like Jesus is with me. In Christ' name, I pray. Amen.
